Going with some of the most recent problems in South Africa there seems to be quite a few comedians on the net.

The first was an email that was sent to ESKOM.
I am sorry that I cannot pay my bill due to your load shedding as my bank account has gone into Stage 3 load shedding.

book cover
The other was from someone in Jo`berg to JZ.
Why must I keep paying my E-TOLLS ? as I also never asked for the road upgrades.

The old one was about the commemorative stamp that won`t stick, it was found that the people were spitting on the wrong side.

There is a very good book by Zapiro that has most of our political past in it.

If you can name these people, then you have followed local events.

Here are some confusing signs which I have found on my hard drive.

Now who in their right mind would try to smoke under water , waste of another law.

If you`ve ever watched a South African football match you will understand this one.

That`s not an emergency sign is it ? At 174 km an hour it will still take an hour to get help. J.

Shopping hours are also confusing, we used to have a 7/11 but working hours have changed.

Is this one of the reasons for these changes ?

It seems that worldwide we have another struggle saying.

This was taken in a chemist shop but came off the net on the same day it happened. I wonder what will come out of the sign reader at the same venue ?

Went to see Alice and Angel on Saturday but never uploaded a blog. Unfortunately I only took my cell phone with me and it was still set for macro, so all my shots are a bit fuzzy. The sun was shining and I couldn`t see anything on the screen and just took pictures blind. The good thing was that the two cine shots I took came out ok. I think the reason for not checking was that Alice was not in her enclosure and we thought the worst.

We eventually found her checking out all the other pigs and enjoying her freedom. She always used to roam where she wanted on the farm. It wasn`t long before Angel arrived on the scene,  as we were dishing out the food to all the pigs. Alice stopped eating from our bowl when she saw the peanut butter sandwiches and apples, and my Wife fed her. Seeing this Angel got stuck into the food bowl and finished it of. When I spoke to the staff they said that she has been doing this for a couple of days and they just leave her until they close. Things are getting much better for them now and giving a name to Angel has made her a star also. I did notice that the wire netting at the front of the enclosure has been breached and Angel can get through quite easily, I don’t know how Alice squeezes through because she is quite large. She has taken to the large pink boar that lives near the water tap and he is about three times her size.  The tap was not turned off very well and Alice has now made a very large wallow where she and Angel can rest when the sun gets hot.

bamboo ashtray

While we were sitting under one of the picnic shades my wife took a fancy to the rustic ashtray that she thought would be great in our resting place in the garden. I asked the staff if I could take one of their bamboo sticks from the pots outside the sanctuary and they agreed. On getting home I made this one,. The piece cut out of the top is cut in half and used as legs and then the trough is half filled with sand.

During the afternoon I started to clear my old computer  equipment  out as I am downsizing. Before I threw out the DVD burners I stripped out the laser diodes. I`ve had quite a bit of fun with them . When I stripped an old cine camera I got some lenses and now I can focus the beam. I now have a laser torch but still have to strip an old torch to fit it in.

Just a few jokes to finish up with.

cig bullet

Don`t smoke in my house, or else. 🙂

book cover

This was a good local book, I found it in the local library.

I wonder how true this is, could it be political?

And there we have it.

Enjoy your week, Leo. 🙂

I found that it is the White Ibis that passes through the Sunset every night. At least they are a lot quieter than the Hadida`s. I`m told they make that screaming noise because they are scared of flying, thats because they are so quiet on the nest or sitting in a tree. 🙂

The Sunrise was not so colourful this morning.

And looked unimpresive as it got brighter.

the sun and birds came out for a while but now it`s raining. As the sun shining through the clouds we still have no rainbow, typical, must be the political climate. 🙂

Going Fishing for a change, maybe a wetsuit is better than a rod. 🙂 I don`t know how the seal found such a big fish in this bay, maybe because it`s their environment.

book cover

I enjoyed this book it has quite a bit of comedy in it.  The drawings are all from Zapiro who has done a lot of exposing over the years.  He has taken a lot of flak for bringing out the truth when the government just want to hide everything.

This was originally in the local newspapers in the 70`s.

With some thought it may be relevant now.

There are two people who seem to occupy most of the media at the moment. The first is Nelson Mandela, the other is Michael Jackson. Nelson Mandela has always true to his beliefs, even now. His philosophy on life has never changed and he must be very sad to see that all his hopes have not materialized. Most of what has happened since he stepped down is the complete opposite to his wishes of a Rainbow Nation. This could be debated for a long time but until the ANC  becomes a political party and separates party and state we will never move forward.
I have never been a follower of Jackson as he was so ashamed of his colour that he bleached his skin, had many changes to his physical structures  and led a very sad life. He even supposedly had white children, which for a black father is impossible. Elvis although berated at times was reasonably true to himself as far as rock Stars go. All stars end up on some sort of drug due mainly to the stress they have to endure.

I`m getting some weird veggies in my garden, maybe I`m using the wrong hormones.

I took some good photo`s of the sunset where I live but  I must go a little further away to get the horizon.

This is what I watched while having my first coffee of the day.

The rain has finally arrived in Plett so I have been planting out seedlings since first light. I find that putting a spoon full of L.A.N. 8into a watering can and pouring it round the roots of the Cauliflower, Chard , Leeks and Broccoli helps promote some strong greenery.

These herbs are very easy to grow and most can be grown in pots of various sizes. I found some of the Garlic cloves had started sp[routing so I put them in pots, with the sprout facing up and just below the surface of the soil. In the last month they have grown to about 200 mm in hight.

Have you ever been sitting and let your mind wander ? I was doing this and thought of how in the middle ages in the UK people could not speak freely about others that were in the upper class at the time. To educate their children they made up nursery rhymes and now we do not question the fact that they were actually codes.
Thinking of our situation I think we could use them but just change their names a bit. Number one would be “ Bra Bra Black Sheep have you any Jobs “. Sung to the usual tune, there is plenty of news items that could be added. Also President Kumar could also be likened to “ Humpty Dumty sat on the Fence “ . Especially when some magician spirited a plane from India to the middle of an African country without any one seeing it , until it appeared in the middle of the runway. Abracadabra, notice the two “ Bra`s” , maybe one was hiding.

Just a bit of local news..

When I say local it means very local, that is as far as I can see from where I`m sitting.
I didn`t go to the Wolf Sanctuary today as I decided to do some gardening and sit on my computer for a while. I spent 3 hours trying to sort   my webpage  out last night but have found that it is now full and can not upload any more photo`s to my front page. In the past I have transferred the info onto the webpage using html. This is fine until the blog site closes and then I lost my pictures. It took a long time finding and uploading them to the page takes a long time. The lesson learned is that all my photo`s must uploaded from the originals when putting the blog somewhere else. That is why I keep all the photo`s used in on a separate disk.

The hard drive is rescued from an old desktop but the solar cell is being charged by my laptop. The solar cell is very handy as it comes with a stand up light and many adapters for phone charging. I can either charge it with the sun or computer.

Alice as seen through rose coloured glasses. 🙂  I don`t know how she grew so fast and so big.  I think she was spoilt and eat too much.

We went to see Alice and friends today at the Wolf Sanctuary. She has quite an extended family now and certainly lets them  know who is boss. The other large female in the group is number two and has her turn to reprimand the youngsters. we took hard boiled eggs, apples, peanut butter sandwiches,  Marmite sandwiches and the usual bag of acorns  . There was a big of squealing from the young piglets when they tried to eat first but I stopped that by throwing the acorns around the enclosure so they would move away. In the next enclosure were two pink pigs that are over ten years old and very lazy.  When I threw them some acorns they just moved their heads to eat them , but if they were not in range they got left for the piglets that could climb through the fence.

I called in at the farm on the way home from the sancuary and now there is only one goose left. They have died one at a time since I left even with the medication supplied by the vet. It may have been the water from the drying dams but the wild geese haven`t had this problem.

Robert Mugabe loves the Zimbabwe ruins so much he has extended it across the whole country. 😉
