The first part showed the Whales, seals, Bats and a few beaches. This part is mainly the historical bits of town.

This is the Old Rectory when there was a lot of camping due to it being very close to the sea. It is privately owned now and in bad repair, most has been taken over by vagrants.

Across the road is the wood shed which is also in bad repair. Most of the wood used for window frames have been used for firewood.

In the foreground is the Wood shed and the Rectory is in the trees now.

This was an Anchor from one of the first boats to bring in wood.

When I first came here there used to be a Wagon complete. The problem was that the municipality did not consider this area as Historic so it has been used for firewood and scrap by vagrants.

The town is usually quiet unless we have a Biker funeral or the Plett Ragerain spider

We do get a few surprises when getting up in the morning but that just life.Β  πŸ™‚

Main Beach is on the far left, the Beacon Isle hotel is on the left of the beach.

This is one of the landing spots on the Main Beach the hotel is then on the right.

If you like Mushrooms, DON`T pick these.

These seem OK, BUT always check before cooking.

Ill finish off with a visitor to the flower garden, this frog is so small it doesnt even bend the flower stem. End of Part Two……………..

Plettenberg Bay is not what I would call a bustling seaside resort and the beaches are not very interesting. But, we do have plenty of sand and sun though. We have a Whale watching company here on the Main Beach.

I was lucky getting free trips on this boat and be able to take such photos close up. I have taken several hundred of these and it was exhilarating to be so close when the Whales breached. Most of the year you can see the Dolphins and Cape Fur Seals in a colony near Robberg.

This was also taken from the boat when approaching Robberg Peninsular.

We have had a few fires around that area lately.

Both these Bats were photographed in the garden with flash.

We bow out to part one and a Sunrise over the Bay………………..

I haven`t written a blog for some time so this is a bit long.

At least the sunrises are still the same and are reliable. I do wonder about the old Sheepherders rhyme of `Red in the morning shepherds warning` as most mornings they appear red at some stage as do the sunsets πŸ™‚

Due to the bad state of the veggies in the supermarkets, plus their prices, have made me enlarge the veggy garden. I decided that if you can`t eat it don`t waste time watering it. fresh veg from even a small garden like mine supplies us with most of our needs. With the amount of sunshine we get some veggies even grow in the winter. I found some purple climbing beans which so far have been grown in pots on bamboo frames and seem to grow all year round. While they are cooking they change from purple to green, so they look like bush beans. I usually grow Bush beans as they are very prolific with their yield. Along with Swiss Chard,Carrots, Leeks, Turnips and Sweet Potatoes, all of which grow very well in my garden we just have to get potatoes or pasta. We have all the herbs growing together so there is no shortage of fresh herbs. Basil and many of the leafy herbs grow nicely in small pots in the kitchen window box, so they are easy to get when cooking.

I have a bread maker and found that home made bread is much tastier than shop bought. For us I just make a small loaf but sometimes it goes in a day. Everyone seems to prefer the French bread because it uses less sugar. After the second rise I take the paddles out so when it`s baked there are just two 6mmholes in the bottom. If the paddle are left in they either ruin the loaf when you try to remove it or they stay in the loaf and have to be taken out when you cut it. An experiment to make Rye bread that was lighter, I mixed Rye flour with white bread flower.

We still have frogs on the dahlias and veggies, maybe it`s because we don`t use any pesticides. It`s not that we tried to grow everything organic but all our compost we get from my daughters farm, even the pine needles for mulch.

At the farm I noticed that even the frogs were competing against the cats for fresh food. the noise from the Dams is very loud at night, at first I thought it was Wild Ducks πŸ™‚

It is very strange that the Eclipse of the moon was called the Red Moon. In the photos I took they came out red on the photos until the absolute eclipse and then even the cine camera would not record the light. When looking through binoculars the moon was just in black and white. I woke at 1 o`clock and the moon was just a round ball but the wind was blowing so hard that I had to tie the tripod to a garden chair to keep it still. here are a few of the still photos I took between 1 and 7 o`clock in my garden.

If you are using a laptop the screen should be tilted back for best results.

s5-8

I found that the zoom was too high on the first ones.

This was taken on the other side of the house at about 6:30 and it looks like the clouds are hiding some of the Moon. Unfortunately these are not as good as seeing the photos from the web but this is what we see in our gardens with standard cameras.

The start of most of my blogs is the Sunrise the morning at the beginning of my day. some days however the sunrise is so uneventful that it isn`t worth showing.

Digital Image

Today`s Sunrise was not so colorful.

The garden is starting to get some new color now, this is a corner under a Peach tree. There are a lot of blossoms on it at the moment and the leaves come just before the hot sun.

Here is a line of code of which the answer is on the last blog.

This article below is from our local free paper the CX Times.

Does anyone remember this blogger, he wrote some of the best satire under the user name Sarcasm.

wheelyboy

His name on iblog and Mweb was `Wheelyboy`.Β  I Have been trying to contact Roly for some time now but all his pages have been deleted and the email is no longer active. I feel maybe his illness has taken a turn for the worse. He was very sick and even a year ago he had to get someone else to answer my email as he was only reading them.

it`s funny but the older you get the more you want to forget birthdays. Unfortunately when you have kids and grand kids this is impossible. it`s also usual to get things that are immediately useful on these days. This year was a little different because we have quite a lot of power outages now, so the only thing you can do is read. I was given a nice large rechargeable lamp which not only has 5Β  settings for the LED`s but can also be charged with the solar panel provided. I can now charge my phones either from the lamp battery or solar power.

solar lamp

As well as this lamp I got a small battery operated one that clips on the page of the book plus lots of eats and some new t-shirts. so this year was an eye opener and I got all useful presents. so maybe life isn`t too bad in the golden Years. πŸ™‚

There are still a lot of birds frequenting the garden and make very interesting animations.

I haven`t done much blogging for a few months so this one will be a bit long. Have you ever tried to revive an old blog that`s on another site, I have and it can be very disappointing when the forbidden notice comes up on the screen.

forbiden

This came up on iblog which is not a problem as it hasn`t been updated since 2012.

iblog2

This unfortunately was taken with a bad cell phone and is out of focus. The pictures at the bottom used to be changed every day to show who were the top favorites.

open seed

Trying to grow my big Sea Bean didn`t work out very well as I over watered it in a heavy soil and it went black. I think I should have grown it like the Avacado Pear pips on the window ledge.

I still enjoy watching the sunrise every morning with my first coffee and cigarette. then at night time there is always the Sunset, if I remember.

Life is still amusing especially when you see things like this. Why are these men shoveling gravel into a front loader? Maybe someone didn`t read the instruction manual for the front loader.

This Autogiro is quite strange as it was built from a kit. It has a pusher prop at the back and the rotor spins as it moves forward to give it lift. I see it quite often down near the beach but it landed one day at the Airport near the farm. I don`t think they travel very fast as the helicopters leave it well behind.

These Pansy Shells used to be found in abundance on the Plettenberg Bay beaches many years ago but I haven`t seen one there in the last five years. When I first started detecting on the beaches people said maybe I would find some shells there but so far they have been allusive.

If you think that it never snows in South African towns just look at this photo taken a few years ago. This is only about 200 meters from the sea. Even the beach had snow on it.

This was my brothers back garden in the UK the same year, as you can see the snow was a lot deeper there even 6 months later.

For people who like memorial foot paths, this was inlaid into the pavement near Buckingham Palace. Very similar to the sidewalk near Hollywood in the USA but smaller.
