Tonight was a little more eventful than just watching DSTV. My wife as not feeling like very much to eat and fancied a boiled egg sandwich, so I offered to make it. I put the egg on to boil but put the stove onto 6 so as to get the water to boil, I then usually bring it down to 2 and let it simmer. As usual I got involved on my computer and was examining some finds from metal detecting with the digital microscope. This went on for a while and I was absorbed with focusing and taking snap shots. There was then an enormous explosion in the direction of the kitchen which sounded like a 12 bore shot gun. The first though from my wife was that I had been experimenting with something and got it wrong. I went into the kitchen and was horrified by the devastation. I had forgotten the egg boiling on full heat and it had exploded. The egg and it`s shell covered half of the kitchen and was stuck on all the cupboards, ceiling, toaster, microwave and everything else on the working surfaces. My wife said that maybe the chicken laid an egg with a bullet in it. The whole kitchen and dining room smelled like a chicken full of eggs had exploded in a ball of flames. Has anyone else had this problem, except if you try to microwave them πŸ™‚

I`m still waiting to find another frog sitting in my dahlias.

At least my veggy garden is still producing, I feel sorry for anyone buying at our local supermarket when it`s so easy to grow fresh.

This seems a bit drastic, my wife only asked me to try to stop smoking πŸ™‚

At least the Sunrise is different every morning and changes as it unfolds.

I was amazed to find out that not only was the Cat catching mice but the frogs also like them. This is a bull frog from the dam and they well outnumber the cats.

Even the Mantis are eating up the gecko`s.

Also when in the local fast food center be very careful where you stand because most cell phones have cameras πŸ™‚

This blog is made up of many different things , as they flow through the mind or get selected by the mouse. A Sunrise is always good to start with.

In the morning you never know if it`s going to rain or not because where I am the weather forecast is very rarely right.

It won`t be long now and we will see how these soapies end!

This was on a bloggers pages and had the title ` If you recognize this we know your old`

I can still remember when this was standard and you had to set the colour and everything else as they had about 12 setting buttons on the back of the TV. This was when TV`s took time to warm up and when switching off it ended with a white dot in the middle of the screen.

Have you ever tried to use an old blog ? I have several on iblog but I now get a reply `forbidden`. Do they close them after a set time? Some of the oldies from this site will remember some of the names, I used to write to most of them as they don`t have a `like` button on iblog. The advantage is that you did get an idea of how many people looked at your blog.

The Jackals are still at the Wolf Sanctuary and eating the Rabbits that they breed. It all seems very self-sustaining. They breed a lot of pigs too, I wonder whether they go to the Wolves?

And we finish with a Sunset. Enjoy your Day. Leo

I was very surprised to see the size of prey that the Mantis will attack. It`s not only the size but weapons it can disable.

mantis-geko-600x450

This Gecko was much heavier and bigger than the Mantis. The Mantis eat it while it was still alive as can be seen in the video I took. The nature programs were not interested as they say it`s a normal thing.

This was taken on a window ledge where the Mantis was hunting flies. It found this Wasp and clamped it`s sting in one arm while it eat the body, still while the wasp was alive.

We get the odd one at the side of the bed but i don`t think they will eat you in the night πŸ™‚

This is called a peaceful march, what I can`t understand is that those throwing the rubbish around will have to clean it up when they go back to work.

Is this the way our money is going to end up ? We will have to see how the land reform goes. It would be a good thing if the land that is being claimed could be kept productive, it would help our balance of payments. Mugabe owns many of the repossessed white owned farms and none of them are productive. Will we become Zimzania ?

It has been quite a roller coaster of a ride through the years of blogging and I find it a relaxing pastime. There are some people that you keep in touch with and sometimes move from site to site. Some people write about the same subject all the time, but mine seem to have changed over the years. I used to do technical and DIY type blogs but now they are about things that happen during my daily life. Maybe it`s an age thing, once you get over 70 things around you tend to become more interesting. I don`t have to travel very far to get photo`s of what I think are interesting because everything has a story, and I love to take photographs. I don`t even have to travel anywhere to get shots like this. Yesterday I went to see Alice and Co and that was only a 10k drive, but made a blog.

And I don`t have to go to the bird sanctuary to see the birds.

If I go to the main beach I can go on a boat and watch the Whales and other sea creatures.

Seeing a Right Whales nose so close is the same as Alice coming to my gate. I have started a serial of Alice`s life on my other blog on wordpress and it seems to have quite a following.

Hobbies have always been something that has taken quite a lot of time in the workshop, but I don`t make these things anymore because my lathe is 10 km away.

At the moment I am experimenting with lasers removed from old computer parts. I got a tourch for my last birthday called a lenser. I thought it was a laser tourch but it was a very bright LED. So far I have only managed to make a very fine beam with the lasers, which is very similar to a laser pointer. Except it shines on the white houses 2 km away and has made some good photo`s when shone on the clouds.

And the sunset should have come before the night sky, but it will make an end to most days.

And the birds are still there at sunset. Have a great weekend…………………………………

There are many types of Whale in Plettenburg Bay that can be seen from land or sea.Β  I used to be land based until I came to Plett and met the owners of Ocean Safaris. The views from their boats which stay at sea for 2 hours are something I will never forget. Seeing a Whale from the beach and hearing the crash as it falls backwards into the sea is nothing compared with being within a few meters of this event.

Then there is the Southern Right Whale. And further up the beach another one.

Right near the Hotel and can be seen from the beach.

Today was another of those unusual days. It was supposed to rain but was just overcast the whole day. This was quite lucky as I had to go to George to get 2 new keys for my car, that’s about 3 hours driving and at least it was cool. When we got there they had made a mistake and only got the one key and that had the wrong insert so they took the old key insert and fitted it to the new key after programing it. When they get the right ones in I must go all the way back so they can fit them to my car.

Coming back we had to pass the Wolf Sanctuary so we popped in to see Alice and Angel. One reason was that the photo`s I took at weekend were taken on macro except for the short videos. Not having any treats we bought some pellets at the tuck shop thinking that maybe this is going to be the first time the pigs will bite. J Luckily they both eat with gusto, Alice making shore that she had the pigs share. Angel soon learned and eat from the edge of the pile.

The small Wolf Cub that I showed in and earlier blog has now grown quite big. He is in a compound with a male and female Wolf cross and seems to be happy with his environment.

The black back Jackals are still as lazy as ever , the one loves to sit on the roof of its shelter and survey the world.

Today we will just have to see yesterdays Sunset. Likethe sunrise in the mornig it seem to move to the right as the seasons progress. The sun used to rise over the mountians but now it`s moved and rises earlier as it`s now over the sea.

Last of all, a few jokes to round off the blog.
