I was reading a blog by fletcher about making dog biscuits which was very good. This reminded me that our feral cat the other day meeowed up at me while I was eating a peanut butter sandwich, so I gave it a bit, which never touched sides and she eat half of it before walking away. That made me think , as well as fish or meat flavors maybe they should bring out a peanut butter flavor J This is the first feral cat that insists on drinking milk every day, probably her mother weaned her too young.

In with my herbs I have Echinacea growing and hoping to make some drops for the prevention of colds and flu. I`ve been using the flower heads like the Chamomile but the books say you can use the whole plant.

I took this I some ones garden with a keyring camera, I think the price of weed has gone up or maybe they like it pure. That`s if they know what it is !?$#@

Have a great weekend.

Although the veggie garden is providing a lot of food the weather is very strange for this time of the year. The Patipans are prolific as is the Swiss Chard. Usually by this time of the year we have harvested many crops of bush beans and have plenty for bottling but I don`t think there has been enough sun. Although there are a lot of tomato plants, mainly beaf steak with a few yellow pear shaped ones. The smaller yellow tomatoes are quite prolific and grown right through to the winter. I have tried all types in pots and they grow very well. They were very good in the UK when grown in ` Grow Bags `. In SA they can be grown in potting soil bags with a bit of 2.3.2 mixed in. Two plants grow in one bag which is useful if you are in a flat with a balcony. Carrot seem to grow in most soils but it is best if the soil is fine. Green peppers seem to be growing better in pots than the ones in the veggie beds, but that is also their position in the sun I think.

Last year a full packet of Echinacea seeds were sown but only one plant germinated and has grown into a large plant. It seems to have spread since it was replanted into the sunny part of the garden. I am hoping to grow more this year so as to make my own drops or making tea out of the flower heads like with the Chamomile that grows in the more shaded areas.

When you don`t want to put your photo online there are several ways to do this. They may be photos but do not show detail and only people that know you in person would recognize.

This was taken with the cartoon setting on the camera and does not show fine detail.

You can also have fun with Sunrises if they look a bit tame.

If you are into photshop or similar there is always other options which are good for a bit of humor.

My last blog seems to have caused a lot of irate emails to be sent to me. It seem that not many people like to discuss matters of our rainbow nation being polarized.

This is specially for ` Bacon `, I found some pics of Alice`s nose when she was on the farm and used to rattle my gate for breakfast every morning. Since she has been at the sanctuary and got older she now has hairs on the front. She does quite a lot of digging there in rather hard ground so I thought it would be smooth.

After a year at the sanctuary and six piglets later.

It`s amazing how soft a pigs nose is considering that they dig so much.

This was taken last week after I had given her a good brush. She is still very affectionate and rubs her nose on the back of your hand in greetings, I think it`s probably to get your scent as her eyes are not as open as they were when she was younger.

Feral cats will always be that however they interact with you. This cat would never stay in the garden if it saw you and would beat a hasty retreat. She now parades within four feet of us now and arrives at the same times every day for breakfast and evening meal. She likes chicken scraps but we don`t have them every day but she eats cat pellets with gusto.

Apart from the odd saucer of milk she still prefers rain water to tap water.

We used to put seeds in a tray for two pigeons that also came every day for meals but the cat thinks they are a cat meal. J

Lucky for the pigeon he only lost a couple of small feathers. I think maybe the cat is losing it`s hunting skills.

There hasn`t been many good sunrises lately but this one has a lot of red in it due to the reflection in the clouds. With a digital camera I do find the color changing by focusing on different foregrounds. Has anyone else found this or is it just my camera?

There are not many Whales in the bay now and you have to go far out into the open sea.

Looking out over the bay there was a very plain sunrise today. Last night`s sunset was also not very impressive due to the sun sinking below the hillside and absence of cloud.

Sunrise with no clouds.

Very disappointing sunset unless you like whispy clouds.

I am very surprised that these Oranges have ripened as they get no direct sun. Although they look ripe I don`t think they will be sweet to taste, they may taste like lemons J

There is one thing with the rising of the sun, there are always clouds somewhere that will reflect the suns rays.

The sunrise was very uneventful today but still interesting. I took these with my cellphone and noticed that on the second photo there are ring emanating from around the sun, has anyone else had this with their cell?

Good morning.

15 minutes later we get the concentric rings around the sun ……..
