Archive for the ‘sunrises’ Category

This blog is made up of many different things , as they flow through the mind or get selected by the mouse. A Sunrise is always good to start with.

In the morning you never know if it`s going to rain or not because where I am the weather forecast is very rarely right.

It won`t be long now and we will see how these soapies end!

This was on a bloggers pages and had the title ` If you recognize this we know your old`

I can still remember when this was standard and you had to set the colour and everything else as they had about 12 setting buttons on the back of the TV. This was when TV`s took time to warm up and when switching off it ended with a white dot in the middle of the screen.

Have you ever tried to use an old blog ? I have several on iblog but I now get a reply `forbidden`. Do they close them after a set time? Some of the oldies from this site will remember some of the names, I used to write to most of them as they don`t have a `like` button on iblog. The advantage is that you did get an idea of how many people looked at your blog.

The Jackals are still at the Wolf Sanctuary and eating the Rabbits that they breed. It all seems very self-sustaining. They breed a lot of pigs too, I wonder whether they go to the Wolves?

And we finish with a Sunset. Enjoy your Day. Leo

I haven`t written a blog for some time so this is a bit long.

At least the sunrises are still the same and are reliable. I do wonder about the old Sheepherders rhyme of `Red in the morning shepherds warning` as most mornings they appear red at some stage as do the sunsets πŸ™‚

Sunrise 26/04/2016

Due to the bad state of the veggies in the supermarkets, plus their prices, have made me enlarge the veggy garden. I decided that if you can`t eat it don`t waste time watering it. fresh veg from even a small garden like mine supplies us with most of our needs. With the amount of sunshine we get some veggies even grow in the winter. I found some purple climbing beans which so far have been grown in pots on bamboo frames and seem to grow all year round. While they are cooking they change from purple to green, so they look like bush beans. I usually grow Bush beans as they are very prolific with their yield. Along with Swiss Chard,Carrots, Leeks, Turnips and Sweet Potatoes, all of which grow very well in my garden we just have to get potatoes or pasta. We have all the herbs growing together so there is no shortage of fresh herbs. Basil and many of the leafy herbs grow nicely in small pots in the kitchen window box, so they are easy to get when cooking.

I have a bread maker and found that home made bread is much tastier than shop bought. For us I just make a small loaf but sometimes it goes in a day. Everyone seems to prefer the French bread because it uses less sugar. After the second rise I take the paddles out so when it`s baked there are just two 6mmholes in the bottom. If the paddle are left in they either ruin the loaf when you try to remove it or they stay in the loaf and have to be taken out when you cut it. An experiment to make Rye bread that was lighter, I mixed Rye flour with white bread flower.

We still have frogs on the dahlias and veggies, maybe it`s because we don`t use any pesticides. It`s not that we tried to grow everything organic but all our compost we get from my daughters farm, even the pine needles for mulch.

At the farm I noticed that even the frogs were competing against the cats for fresh food. the noise from the Dams is very loud at night, at first I thought it was Wild Ducks πŸ™‚

Most of the early morning is spent looking up or out to sea. There are some great sunrises and very strange cloud formations.

The garden is also looking OK but there is always room for improvement πŸ™‚

We used to have a ` Fire Pool ` in town near the council chambers but that has now been filled with rocks and plants that need very little water.

If you are still worrying about the infrastructure falling apart , look at what happened in Germany yesterday.

I think as you get older you mellow but others have told me it`s just that you give a dam anymore. I do know thatΒ  time changes with age, Weeks go very quickly but it takes twice as long now to do things. I also see the funny side of of this joke better now.

They say that owners begin to look like their animals after a while, but could the opposite be true ?

Well I can still take my sunrise photos in the morning while having my first coffee.

When it`s cloudy it looks like this, but still worth seeing.

I thought I would review a few sunrises today as it looks like the owners are selling .I think I will miss this early morning photo session.I have just started a Facebook page Under the name of Keith William, this is photo I am using. All the years of blogging I have used my friend the Whitwolf but after her death I thought it was time for a change. I am still trying to find how the page works, as I have just blogged for many years, but most people now seem to be on Facebook.

I was just thinking that not much has changed in the last year. I realize that blogging is just a hobby like photography, metal detecting, Ham radio, computers and gardening. But I still enjoy them all equally and they all seem to fit into the blogging category eventually, but it keeps me occupied and I do get plenty of e-mails. I thought of giving up blogging many times, but then I tried to think what to do to pass the time away and get my photos looked at. This year I must definitely use a better camera as one gets lazy when it`s so easy to use a cell phonecamera.

The Devil Cat is still making use of the window sill to spy on us when we watch TV. The other night I took my eyes off her and she sneaked into the lounge and slept on the couch. It was only at 5 in the morning that I was awoken by a very faint Meeoow and had to get up and let the cat out. She`s a very strange feral as she will rub against your legs and make free with the house, She insists on the pellet bowl and milk saucer being there when she wants them, but will not have a hand put near her.

The garden is still producing mor than we can eat every day, this was just one picking this morning.

I was just looking at some old photos that were taken in the early 60`s when I was interested in ex-army radio equipment. They were great fun but needed a lot of battery power. Looking at it now they seem very cumbersome and did not have any more range than the equivalent ones I have now.

This is the Zartek Pro 8 and has a rechargeable battery like a cell phone. They don`t need a license and have a choice of 304 channels, FM radio, Baby monitor, stop watch, and VOX and comes with charger and mike/earphone combination. They are very handy when at the farm as I can keep in touch with the main house when exploring the bush. They are also very useful when metal detecting as they are on the 446 mhz band so don`t interfere with the detectors.

Don`t worry tonight if you don’t make any New Year’s resolutions, because then you won`t be disappointed tomorrow.

When I am metal detecting this would be much better than bottle tops, it`s very similar to doing the lottery every week and hoping.

Well Christmas has come, and gone. Now we are entering a brand new Year, which for younger members it is full of a lot more possibilities.:-)

I think that maybe my life is mapped out for the next year and it won`t be much different for this last one. At a certain age you normally stick to things that you know and have worked before. I still like my photography and am of the opinion that a photograph is better than words. Computers are still a useful tool as it makes it possible to communicate with people thousands of miles away. As far as photos go I seem to be using a cell phone more often now as it`s so easy and maybe a person gets a bit lazy with age. I have taken sunrises and sunsets with a DSLR camera and they make great posters but you can only display a few so most get reduced to 500pixels wide and used on blogs.

This was taken on an overcast day and does not have a ot of different colors with which to make a poster.

This one however was clipped and gave a picture with a bit of atmosphere as most of the ones with the sun coming through the clouds do.

The sunsets are usually colorful but the sky has to be clipped unless there are a lot of clouds to reflect the setting sun.

This must be one of the unusual feral cats that beg for a saucer of milk morning and night.

I am still busy in the garden and this morning I had to pick these items plus a lot of Swiss Chard. I am lucky that my one daughter comes and takes some for her family as I seem to be over producing. I`ve always wondered why more people don`t do this as there is nothing better than home grown veggies, especially when you see what the supermarkets are palming off on the public.
