I haven`t blogged for a while and am suffering from withdrawal as I used to be a bloggerholic. The sky in the morning always seems more interesting in the winter months so  will start off with yesterday.

As we have a problem with water in the Cape its quite surprising that there are so many veggies still growing.I`ve been using rain water for a while now and it`s getting low so may have to use grey water.

There are quite a few insects and other creepy crawlies around. i find the Prey Mantis very resourceful. When they catch a bee or wasp they keep the sting out of the way while they eat it.i was very surprise to see the even eat Gecko`s, but they do it while it is alive.

It`s strange when you look at photos after downsizing. Sometimes you don`t remember where they went, other times giving things away leaves a lasting memory.

These were made from bits of wood that I found in Tokia forest, but gave them all away to friends and family. Some I still see when I visit old friends.

This display wason the wall of my workshop, most of them are now in the UK at my brothers Dojo and are still seem by many of his students.

This is the bike that was raced at the Rainbow track in Jo`burg when Mike Bramley still ran `Hells Angels` They were great days and possible the best motor cycling days of my life.

This was my first car that I had to get once the family started to grow. It was quite good for the kids as we had a nice mattress in the back so they could sleep when they wanted to. I don`t think this would be allowed now but seet belts were no a requirement then. This was in Durban where I traded it in for a Valiant so we could drive down to Cape Town.

tree stump

there are also interesting things along the beach. I don`t know where this tree root came from.

It seems that both the Cat and the Frog enjoy the mice on the farm.

Why use the supermarket when all you need is a small patch of ground. This is a bit of the garden that is at the side of the house, so was a waste to grow flowers, but provides all my fresh veggies. lucky i have kids so am able to pass some along when the crop is too large.Image00845

If you have potholes in your road ask this guy to come along as he`s found a use for them. 🙂

Have a great day 🙂

I found this picture of `Alice` when she was quite small.  She had delivered her fist litter by now and become a pet.

I had to build many different houses for her in the next few years. When she was first pregnant we thought that it was because she was a Potbellied Pig and was just developing. as she was so small and didn`t look old enough to have young. The problem is that she came from the Wolf Sanctuary and there are a lot of boars of all sizes walking free.

When I built a house next to my stoop she used to come every morning about 6 o`clock for breakfast. She would rattle the gate until I came outside. After breakfast it was a complete bushing all over her body, it certainly made the fir shine and it calmed her down when she was in Estrus. She would then walk with me round the small holding boundry like a dog, except I never tried a lead. She grew to be a huge pig but was always active. As you can see in number 4 she grew a long mane during the winter, which she didn`t mind me holding her back with when we had problems. If strangers came onto the property she would chase them barking like a dog, but would always come back when I whistled.Going from the gate to the house which was over 250 meters she could keep up with my car doing at least 30 km/h.

It was Alice`s morning ritual that got me into photographing the sunrise every day.

I`ve heard of a Dog in the manger but this looks like a goat.
