As I have a problem with getting on to the internet this is a long blog.

This video shows how I battle with my little car on this new road. An update on the new road.

This link will show the road as is:-

This road has been made from the National Road down Peisang Valley Road, up Robberg road to the airport road. Chinese roads are build in one long stretch, this is an all Africa road with BEE status. 🙂    They build half the road but within a week it`s having to be repaired by filling the potholes with cement. The trouble with this is that cement doesn`t hold to tarmac and breaks away within days into bigger potholes. The new approach is to fill the holes with cement and then cover these stretches of the road with tarmac. We will see by next week what has happened to these stretches of road. How are the new road in your area ?

WiFi Dish.

As my DSTV dish is no longer needed I have decided to use it for WiFi experiments.I started moths ago with a sieve as a reflector to improve my WiFi signal, it has worked very well especially when mobile. Being some distance from the wireless router I am using , the signal keeps dropping.

Signal keeps dropping

Because I keep loosing the signal I now use this setup with a small sieve as a reflector. In the center of the sieve I fitted the dongle attached to a USB extension cable. When this was fed into the laptop I had a steady signal. I am now waiting for my local shop to get me a dongle with external antenna fitting then I will experiment with some small hi gain antennas.

The Mystery at Robberg Beach.

Robberg Beach is not a very interesting
beach normally but to the last two days I got some interesting pictures. The
events were rather unexpected as there was something floating in the sea above
the surf line. I got this info from my daughter at Ocean Safaris who had used
binoculars to try and find out what it was. A paddle ski went out from the
beach to investigate and said it was just a piece of fishing net. As the tide
was going out and the object was just not moving very much, I left the beach.

This morning I was up early so thinking whatever was there must have been washed up with the early high tide I took a walk down .I saw two black humps on the beach and
thought maybe a small baby whale was caught in the net.

When I got there I found that it was fishing net and a bamboo frame, which was probably used as lobster or crayfish pot.

This broken pot was however covered with what looked like a
lot of starfish with shells on the end of their legs. The long legs which were actually single, were toped with a shell that opened and a claw came out. On taking them back to the shop I showed then to the Marine Biologist who was there and he said they were young barnacles.

This is starting at the beginning of my association with Alice,I am trying to start at the beginning but a lot of little things keep coming up.

It seems a long time ago since Alice came to stay. this story started when my daughter decided that a pet Potbelly pig would make a good pet for the children.

As you can see the adults don`t have any grazing and live in mud. They only seem to get the food that is sold to visitors, which is a paper bag of pellets for R5. They have other pigs there but they are huge, I have never seen the white one when it hasn`t been sleeping under it`s shelter.

At this age we did not know that she was pregnant as she was quite slim for a pot belly pig. Alice was named before she came to the farm and was very good as far as laying down and having a good scratch.

At that time we only used to take her a plastic container of food and a 5 litre of tap water. She was not very happy with the water at the farm as it cam from a borehole and was a bit brown. I came to realize that she knew what she wanted as when I tried to give her the local water she picked the bowl up with her teeth an threw it.

African Innovations

There is still a shortage of petrol so we take standing room only.

Of coarse there are times when there is no petrol, then we bring out the  ” Toyota Cowrolla.”

Have you seen the price of radio batteries, and thats if they have any in stock.

Of coarse this puts a new meaning to the phrase ” Radio Head”

These were taken across our northern border, but the kit will be in your local Warimark or iSparza soon. :-))

Due to the Health department loosing 80% of their ambulances, these will be the replacements. Alas, due to administration problems they will still cost the government R1M each. This is because it is the latest SA technology, AA & BEE compliant.

My Latest Anti-Hijack Car

I have found this car very suitable for the South African road conditions. This car is very good when going through hijack areas, it is 4 wheel drive and goes over hijackes with the greatest of ease. All windows are bullet proof and has a built in flame thrower.

This was got in an Army sale in the UK as is for £100 and refurbished for use in re-enactments.
