I have a lot of photographic equipment that I would like to get rid of. due to downsizing and going digital my cameras and lenses are now obsolete to me. I would however like to make a few Rands to get some equipment or exchange some items.This one below is a Miranda Sensorex with a built in light meter and interchangeable lense and view finder. This camera has 35, 50 and 400mm lenses, plus 2x and 3x converters and 3 view finders. I still have a bulk film dispenser as I used to take a lot of photo`s and a 50 meter can lasted about a month. As I did all my own developing and printing it was quite cheap.

It has what was termed an automatic lens, it connects with the exposure meter.
It has a quick release on the front of the lense for the filters and hood.

If there is any interest I will put the rest on, even if its just nostalgia.
The old equipment was usually well made of aluminum and had a pure leather case.
Nowadays its all made in China with cheap plastic. This camera I bought in 1963 for R100.
It has traveled many thousands of miles and is still in good condition.
the last time I used it was for a magazine article and the quality is far
better than my digital camera.

Its Christmas time again and people use it as an excuse to drink more than normal.
Crime is also another thing that that seems to increase around this time of the year. Even Santa isnt safe.

Then there one thought of the day, taken from a Christmas card from the UK.

Some of the shots I took today at the Wolf Sanctuary. We have the wolf/dog or whitewolf, the Timber Wolves and the Wild Dogs. The other animation is a small collection of the petting animals for the children when they have their birthday parties here. There are a lot of swings , slides and a trampoline, with chairs and tables under cover.

Bats eat in trees sometimes.

If it`s too big to eat in flight they hang upside down in a tree and eat. When the prey is on the ground they make quite a noise when they hit from above. They sometimes catch prey on the lawn, like crickets and grasshoppers. They are so fast that I am going to have to use electronic methods to photograph them.

Because I have always spent a lot of my time outdoors and usually on the beach or in the bush, sticks have always been part of the equiptment. I have made so many i cannot count them. Most have been given as gifts and are in daily use. This collection goes from swordstick to knobkerry. The one that looks somethning like a hippo`s head was a branch that I found on Muizenberg mountain after the fire some 40 years ago.

The long skull is not finished yet as I want to work on it with my dremmel, to give it teeth.

I used the same mould as I did for the other skull stick, except rotated it so the skull went down the stick,and easier to hold. the other skull I use mostly on the beach as its lighter and very good for moving kelp, to see what is washed up.

Update:- I have since found a set of small flashing lights amongst some Star wars Laser swords that my Grandkids threw out. They were just the job, the next skull has the LED`s in the sockets, the small electronic pack with batteries fits in the base of the skull. The lights do not flsh until the two metal pins at the top are tuoched by my hand..These are connected to a very simple touch switch. A small microswitch was used on the prototype, they are 5 mm square and 2.5 mm thick. They were taken off an old PC board.

This next one was sent to NICAP in the USA who do research into Airial Phenomena. With this comparison you can see it was traveling faster than the spin of the Earth. I sent a copy to the newspapers but they contacted CSIR and they said it could not be published. At that time there was a UFO reported landing in Beufort West and it was fired on by the SAP, so they were sensitive times.

This is another joke that came out many years ago when photocopies used to flow thick and fast round most offices. Pre- cellphone days when you could go out and not be disturbed until you got home again. There was a survey done a while ago that found that in 50% of cases at least one of the people involved in the call, was on the toilet at the time. Crap, I hate cell phones.

Today I had quite a laugh when I asked one of my grandsons who was born on Christmas Day. First he replied “It was God”. I told him that he must try again, he then told me that he couldn`t tell me because it was a swear word.
It would appear that the name “Jesus Christ” or for the sensitive “Cheese and Rice” the words are being used a bit too frequent for them to understand there is no connection.

As recession bites even the ” Malls ” are getting smaller and moving out of Town. They obviously get lower rates here and do not nead parking bays or security guards. )

I went for dinner at a friends house the other night and saw this on the counter in the kitchen. As the meal was already underway on the stove I asked if this was for sandwiches the next day. Of coarse everyone saw the funny side of the photo. Neadless to say the dog wont eat it either. But thinking about it I remember an old lady in the UK that did eat it and she said she had no problems with it as it was very tasty. She also took “kitzime” tabelets as the multivitamins were too expensive.
